The Importance of Hosting the Virtual Parade:
Transitioning to a virtual format allowed the NPRDP to continue its mission of celebrating Puerto Rican culture and heritage despite the unprecedented circumstances of the pandemic. The virtual parade served as a platform to preserve cultural traditions, inform the community on important issues, and promote educational achievements. Louis Maldonado, board chair for the NPRDP Board of Directors, emphasized that the parade is "more than a celebration of pride and culture. It's a platform for preserving our heritage while advancing our community by informing on important issues and promoting educational achievement." The event also highlighted the resilience of the Puerto Rican community, showcasing their ability to adapt and unite in the face of adversity.
