Bio
Pablo Casals was a Catalan cellist, conductor, and composer, celebrated for his exceptional musicianship and profound influence on classical music. Born in El Vendrell, Spain, in 1876, Casals demonstrated musical talent from a young age. He gained international acclaim for his emotive performances and innovative interpretations, particularly of Bach's cello suites. A committed humanist, Casals was an outspoken advocate for peace and democracy, choosing exile from Spain in protest against Franco's regime. In his later years, he settled in Puerto Rico, where he continued to perform, compose, and mentor young musicians until his death in 1973.
