Jose Ortiz Bio:

Jose Ortiz is one of the most accomplished and respected riders in Thoroughbred racing, known for his strength in the saddle, tactical precision, and relentless competitiveness. From Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Ortiz developed his craft at the prestigious Escuela Vocacional Hípica before bringing his talents stateside, where he quickly rose through the ranks on the New York racing circuit. A mainstay at premier tracks like Belmont Park, Saratoga, and Churchill Downs.

Ortiz captured the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey in 2017 and has consistently ranked among the nation’s leading riders by wins and earnings. His résumé includes victories in some of racing’s biggest events, such as The Preakness Stake(2022) and The Belmont Stake(2017). Highlighted by a standout start to 2026 winning the Dubai World Cup, the Kentucky Oaks for a second time and completing his own personal Triple Crown winning the 152nd Kentucky Derby on May 2, 2026. Becoming the 9th jockey, first Latino, to win the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby in the same weekend.

Irad Ortiz Jr. Bio:

Irad Ortiz Jr. is a premier Puerto Rican thoroughbred jockey known for dominating the North American racing circuit. From Trujillo Alto, PR and a graduate of the prestigious Escuela Vocacional Hípica, he comes from a racing family, including his younger brother and fellow jockey, Jose Ortiz.

Ortiz Jr. is known for his tenacious, fearless riding style, often compared to Hall of Famer and Puerto Rican legend Angel Cordero Jr. for his ability to find tight spaces and win on both speed and closing horses. 

As a five-time Eclipse Award winner (2018–2020, 2022, 2023) He has won an unprecedented 23 Breeders' Cup races, the Belmont Stakes (2016, 2022), and has set multiple single-season earnings records. His relentless drive to win and dedication to constantly improving his craft set him apart from the masses as he continues to dominate racing year after year on every stage.
