Edgar Martínez is a former professional baseball player renowned for his exceptional hitting skills and dedication to the sport. Born in New York City in 1963, he was raised in Dorado, Puerto Rico, where he developed a passion for baseball. Martínez spent his entire 18-year Major League Baseball career with the Seattle Mariners, primarily serving as a designated hitter and third baseman. Throughout his career, Martínez earned seven All-Star selections and won two American League batting titles. His remarkable batting prowess led to the annual designated hitter award being named the Edgar Martínez Award in his honor. In 2019, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the game's greats.
