Camila Colón 

NPRDP 2026 Honoree: Rising Star

Bio:

Camila Colón Cruz is a professional dancer with more than ten years of experience in live stages, national television and musical theater. Her artistic approach covers technical execution, choreographic creation and stage direction, with specialization in salsa, and Latin rhythms.

Throughout her career, she has worked with high-profile artists and has led dance groups in international projection events. She has been a world champion as a female soloist in salsa for nine consecutive years, in addition to winning the title at the Puerto Rico Salsa Weekend in the female duo category.

She has also collaborated on projects with choreographer Danny Lugo, in the cast of Cast B dancers of the Simetría Tour 2023 with Olga Tañón, as well as in numerous music videos.

Among her artistic credits are collaborations with Miky Woodz, RKM & Ken-Y, Víctor Manuelle, Olga Tañón, Michael Stuart, Manolito Rodríguez, La Puertorican Power, Plenéalo, Peter Nieto, Nklabe, Apollo Sound, Luis Vázquez and Christian Alicea. She also has television experience in productions such as Claro Que Baila (WAPA TV).

Her academic training includes studies at the Specialized School of Fine Arts of Cayey and at the Sabor Ajeno Academy, complemented by continuous training in more than ten dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, merengue, bachata, samba, ballroom, etc. She is currently enrolled continuing education and training in the dance field.

For me, dance is a way of telling who we are as a people: it reflects our joy, our identity and the love we feel for our culture. Every step I take is inspired by the history, rhythms and traditions of Puerto Rico, and it is my way of keeping our identity alive, even far from the Island. This recognition not only celebrates my career, but also the strength and spirit of all Puerto Ricans who carry their culture in their hearts. In every step that my dance reaches, the grace of God always accompanies me. And, this recognition, does not distance itself from his Grace and love towards me."
