In 1964, he partnered with Richie Ray, forming the legendary duo "Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz." Together, they revolutionized salsa music, earning nine gold records with hits like "Agúzate," "A Mi Manera," and "Sonido Bestial." Their innovative fusion of rhythms and styles played a pivotal role in popularizing salsa worldwide.
