Anthony Ramos is a Grammy®-winning artist and Golden Globe® and Emmy®-nominated actor known for his dynamic work across film, television, music, and Broadway. Ramos is known for inaugurating the dual roles of “John Laurens” and “Philip Hamilton” in the Tony Award-winning phenomenon, Hamilton, earning an Emmy® nomination, before going on to star as “Usnavi” in Jon M. Chu’s In the Heights. His performance garnered a Golden Globe® nomination and recognition from IndieWire and W Magazine in their year-end Best Performance roundups. Ramos most recently starred in Ryan Murphy’s The Beauty on FX alongside Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Pope. In October 2025, he appeared in Kathryn Bigelow’s Netflix film A House of Dynamite opposite Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Greta Lee, and more. He also starred in Universal’s blockbuster Twisters, directed by Academy Award® nominee Lee Isaac Chung.
Upcoming projects include a new animated Bob the Builder feature in development with Mattel Films, ShadowMachine, and Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions, which Ramos will produce and star in.
His additional film and television credits include HBO’s reimagining of the Emmy®-winning series In Treatment opposite Uzo Aduba; the Academy Award®-winning film A Star Is Born alongside Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper; Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It; and the DreamWorks animated hit Bad Guys. Ramos also voiced ‘King Trollex’ in Trolls World Tour, starred as ‘Noah Diaz’ in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and appeared in Dumb Money. He portrayed The Hood in Marvel’s Disney+ limited series Ironheart and returned to voice ‘Mr. Piranha’ in Bad Guys 2 alongside Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina, Zazie Beetz, and Marc Maron. Ramos earned critical acclaim for his breakout role as ‘Manny’ in Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Monsters and Men, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize.
Beyond acting, Ramos is also an accomplished recording artist whose recent singles, including “I Was the One,” “Vicariously,” and “Se Fue,” reflect his deep connection to his Latin music roots.
Born and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn, to Puerto Rican parents, Ramos remains deeply connected to his community. He is the co-owner of Milly’s, a bar and restaurant in Bed-Stuy named after his mother, which he created with his brother and close friends as a tribute to family and neighborhood. In 2025, he partnered with Brooks Running to complete his first New York City Marathon.
