Virginia Sánchez Korrol is a pioneering historian and educator renowned for her extensive research on the Puerto Rican community in the United States. As a Professor Emerita at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, she chaired the Department of Puerto Rican and Latino Studies, dedicating her career to presenting the Puerto Rican community on its own terms. Her seminal work, "From Colonia to Community," explores the history of Puerto Ricans in New York City during the inter-war years, highlighting their resilience and contributions to American society. Virginia's dedication to preserving and promoting Latino heritage has made her an influential figure in both academic and community circles.
