Bio
Raúl Ayala is a visual artist and educator from Quito, Ecuador, specializing in mural production, drawing, and public art. His work explores themes of justice, memory, immigration, and resilience, often through collaborative and co-creative processes with communities. Raúl co-founded Cooperativa Cultural 19 de Enero (CC1/19), focusing on art and oral history, and People's Collective Arts, facilitating various art forms for public interventions. He has exhibited internationally and participated in several prestigious residencies and programs, including the Rauschenberg Residency and the Create Change Commissions Artist award. Raúl also serves as a faculty member at Rutgers University-Newark, contributing to the Arts, Culture & Media department.
