Bio
Mayra Santos-Febres is an acclaimed Puerto Rican author and poet born in 1966 in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Her literary work delves into themes of race, identity, sexuality, and power within the Afro-Caribbean context. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico and both an M.A. and Ph.D. from Cornell University. Santos-Febres has published numerous works, including the novel "Sirena Selena vestida de pena," which explores the life of a young drag performer in the Caribbean. She currently serves as a professor of literature at the University of Puerto Rico, contributing significantly to contemporary Caribbean literature and cultural discourse.
