Bio
Luis Sanz, born on August 2, 1994, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, is a distinguished cuatrista, composer, and professor. He began playing the Puerto Rican cuatro at the age of four and performed with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra by nine. Sanz co-founded the Hermanos Sanz band with his sister, Lisvette, and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Residente, Ednita Nazario, and Gilberto Santa Rosa. His compositions have been showcased internationally, and he has produced six albums, including "Cuatro Sinfónico," recognized among the top five Puerto Rican recordings in 2019. Sanz holds degrees in Music Composition and Bass Performance from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, respectively, and a Master's in Music Composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He currently serves as a professor at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, contributing significantly to the preservation and evolution of Puerto Rican musical traditions.
