Edward Caban, born in 1967 in the Bronx, New York City, is a distinguished law enforcement officer renowned for his extensive career with the New York City Police Department (NYPD). In July 2023, he made history by becoming the first Latino to serve as the NYPD Commissioner, a testament to his dedication and leadership within the department. Caban's career with the NYPD began in 1991, and over the years, he has held numerous positions, including Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Inspector, and Inspector. Prior to his appointment as Commissioner, he served as the First Deputy Commissioner under Keechant Sewell.
