She earned the prestigious Silver Circle honor from the Emmy Television Academy of Arts and received the Award for Excellence in Science Reporting by a Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society twice, most recently in 2025.

Deborah worked as a reporter, anchor, and meteorologist for WAPA TV (1994-2021) before becoming the Chief Meteorologist and Science Reporter for Teleonce WLII and the Uno Radio Group's radio stations. During Hurricane Maria in 2017, she stayed on air for over 30 hours, providing crucial information when the island was isolated, ensuring her broadcast signal reached the United States through cable.

Space has always been her passion. She covered the Artemis 1 mission launch, documented the achievements of Puerto Rican-origin astronauts Joseph Acabá and Marcos Berrios, and reported on the launch of Puerto Rico's first nanosatellite by local students. Her special reports include several at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, where she experienced a microgravity flight in 2008 and covered Artemis mission preparations in 2021. She also provided special coverage of the Discovery STS-119 shuttle mission in 2009 and conducted the first live news interview in Puerto Rico with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station, featuring Joseph Acabá. Her reports from the Arecibo Observatory, which tragically collapsed in 2020, have earned an Emmy and several other awards.

Deborah is deeply involved in community activities, promoting education and readiness for natural disasters. She organizes astronomical observation nights with the Solar System Ambassador Program and collaborates on STEM education programs at the Parque de las Ciencias de Puerto Rico and its Aerospace Institute.

She is SCUBA certified and has produced special underwater reports that have earned Emmy awards. Her social media presence is notable, with over 600,000 followers who trust her expertise and charisma. Throughout her career, she has received 8 Emmy awards for her work as a meteorologist and for her outstanding reports and special programs.

On a personal level, Deborah has two daughters and shares her life with her husband. She believes that through hard work and faith, any dream can be achieved and hopes to go to Space and produce another Emmy-winning report in the near future.
