Alberto Carrión is a renowned Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and composer who began his musical journey in the late 1960s. Initially performing with bands like The Tom Cats and The Chessmen, he later joined The New Zeland Trading Company, touring across the United States and Canada. In 1973, Carrión gained prominence with his composition "Amanecer Borincano," a song that became emblematic of Puerto Rican neofolk music. His innovative fusion of traditional Puerto Rican sounds with contemporary rhythms has significantly influenced the island's musical landscape. Carrión's dedication to preserving and evolving Puerto Rican music continues to inspire and resonate within the Latino community.
