Puerto Rican athletes were recognized today
during the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York.

New York, NY. (June 9, 2019): GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS, the global authority in record-breaking, honored athlete icons during the 62nd edition of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade today in New York. Amanda Serrano and Edgar Martínez were presented with their GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles to celebrate their achievements.
Today, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS recognized the renowned Puerto Rican athlete, Amanda Serrano received the title for most boxing world titles won in a different weight division- female (7) and former Major League Baseball legend, Edgar Martínez achieved the most runs batted during a postseason Major League Baseball (MLB) game (7).
“Puerto Rico is filled with record title holders. We are proud to welcome Puerto Rican sports legends to the Guinness World Records family,” said Hannah Ortman, official adjudicator for GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS. “We are honored to be part of this cultural celebration that honors the 3.5 million inhabitants of Puerto Rico and more than 5 million people residing in the United States,” added Ortman.
The annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade, with its route along Fifth Avenue, highlights the culture’s history, contributions to the arts and sciences, and more while helping the local communities.
